A fresh graduate of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), who graduated from the Department of Philosophy identified as Ogunleye Gbenga Moses has been found lifeless inside his room in an off-campus hostel.

The deceased who was popularly known as Pablo reportedly died of suspected food poisoning on Saturday, May 6, 2023, Nation reveals.

Gbenga was said to be waiting for the National Youths Service Corp (NYSC) call-up letter.

It was gathered by the publication that the deceased and his girlfriend reported having food illness on May 5 after dining at an unknown eatery in Akungba. They received care at the Aduloju Hospital in Iwaro before their discharge.

A source narrated;

“Gbenga and his girlfriend complained of food poisoning after returning from an unknown restaurant. They went to the hospital where they were both treated for typhoid. After the deceased was discharged yesterday, we were made to understand that his girlfriend’s health was critical, and was just discharged this morning (Saturday).”

The source further revealed that Gbenga was found dead inside his room after they broke into his room when he was not seen in the morning.

“The moment we noticed he was not responding to calls and knocked on his door, we barged into his room through his window around 11:00 am, when we noticed he did not open his door. He is a lovely and entertaining person. Yesterday, we were made to understand that his girlfriend’s health was critical, and was just discharged,” the source added.

Gbenga was not the only person to complain about food poisoning, according to a source who wished to remain unidentified, who also noted that a few weeks prior, a student who ate poison in an unknown restaurant needed God’s help to survive.

Prof. Olusegun Akanbi, the dean of Student Affairs who confirmed Gbenga’s death, said;

“The Head of the Department of Philosophy just called me and it was discovered that he passed on this morning, and his parents had already come.”

A team of investigators has been assembled by the school, according to Victor Akinpelumi, a spokesman for the university, to determine the exact circumstances behind the occurrence.
