One Uchenna Nwobi has been apprehended by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra state command, for allegedly defiling his two biological daughters, aged 5 and 3 years.
On Wednesday, October 19, 2022, the defendant, who is a resident of Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area of the state, was apprehended after a whistle-blower reported the incident to the Anambra State Ministry For Women and Social Welfare.
The Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Hon. Ify Obinabo, after receiving the complaint through her Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Response team quickly informed the NSCDC and investigations commenced.
In the course of the investigation, the children were rescued by the Intelligence Unit of NSCDC and the suspect was arrested.
Reports has it that since 2020, the defendant has reportedly been sexually abusing the children after he sent his wife out of the house due to marital issues.
Meanwhile, Nwobi has been detained for child molestation, and abuse and would be charged in court after the completion of the investigation.
The Ntasi Centre in Enugwu-Ukwu was the first place the kids were sent, and there a doctor on duty confirmed they had been defiled.
There were fresh bruises, and swelling on their private parts when they were brought to the hospital,
The children confessed that they were constantly abused by their father and begged not to be returned to him for fear of being punished.
The commissioner when addressing the issue in her office in Awka said she’s charging both the man and his wife to court and will not leave any stone unturned.
The father refuted the accusations after being questioned, saying he was unaware that anyone, let alone him, was defiling his children.
He later threatened to deal with whoever made the report.
