ASUU Strike: Gov. Badaru says there is no reason for the strike to continue.

Jigawa State’s governor, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, has sent a letter to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) members. He claims that ASUU has any justification for continuing the strike. In the Sir Ahmadu Bello Conference Hall in Dutse, Badaru made this statement during an interactive discussion with Permanent Secretaries, Directors, Deputy Directors, and Heads of Ministries and Parastatals.

In response to the current strike at Jigawa State’s Sule Lamido University, Kafin-Hausa branch of the ASUU, Badaru released this declaration. He clarified that the ASUU has no justification for continuing its strike at the state-owned institution.

“I don’t see any reason for the state own universities to continue with the strike because as the state government had already catered to their demands as at when due. “About seventy percent of the Lecturers are state indigenes who are supposed to show love and concern to the education of the upcoming leaders,” he said.

But he asked the union to respect the government’s pledge and avoid being drawn into a conflict that did not affect them. Therefore, he pleaded with the state’s elders and other key players to become involved in the strike. The state government’s institutions are unaffected by IPPIS since their wages do not come from the Federal Government, despite the fact that ASUU went on strike on February 14, 2022, against the enrolment of Federal Government employees on the program.
