BRT: An uproar erupted after a missing fashion designer was discovered dead.

Ayanwole Oluwabamise, a 22-year-old lady, was reported deceased after boarding a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicle on February 26.

“Bamise’s brother came at Ebute Ero Police Station this morning to confirm and when he was given the image of the body, he acknowledged that it was his sister’s,” said Twitter user @akinfikemi, who claimed to have talked to the victim’s brother. He’s on his way to identify the deceased at the morgue.”

“I just called on the phone with the brother who went to Ebute Ero Police Station and he again verified that he is back at home and that he has broken the news of finding her dead to the entire family,” the Twitter user wrote a few minutes later. The family, particularly the mother, is in disbelief right now.”

However, the development has sparked widespread outrage on social media, with users lamenting that “government-run public transportation is not safe.”

Miss Oluwabamise Ayanwola, who works as a fashion designer at Chevron Estate in Ajah and spends weekends with her sister in Ota, Ogun State, was returning to Ota when she boarded a BRT bus to Oshodi with the number 240257 at Chevron Bus-Stop at 7 p.m.

According to widely leaked voice notes between Oluwabamise and her buddy, the bus driver expressed interest in Oluwabamise and requested her name and other information.

At successive bus stops, the bus did not pick up any more passengers.

She begged her friend to pray for her since she was suspicious of the bus driver, and her friend advised her to get out at the Oworonsoki bus stop, which was well ahead of the Oshodi bus stop.

“There are three males and one woman in the bus,” Oluwabamise stated in a video she texted to a friend, describing how dark it was on the transport. The woman is seated in the back row. In case something goes wrong, that’s the bus number. Please keep me in your prayers.”

Oluwabamise was last heard from after that.

Meanwhile, two people have been detained in connection with Oluwabamise’s suspected disappearance, according to police.
