Chidinma Ojukwu, a convicted murderer, has won Miss Cell 2022.

Miss Cell 2022 is Chidinma Ojukwu, the suspected murder suspect of Michael Usifo Ataga, the Chief Executive Officer of Super TV.

She was the winner of a beauty competition held at the Kirikiri female jail to commemorate International Women’s Day, with the theme “BreakingTheBias” this year.

Ojukwu, a University of Lagos (UNILAG) 300-level Mass Communication student who is on trial for Ataga’s murder with her sister, Chioma Egbuchu, and one Adedapo Quadri, competed with other convicts and won the coveted title of Miss Cell 2022.

Ojukwu’s trial was stopped on the latest postponed date, February 21, due to the lack of a prosecution witness.

Ojukwu is on trial at the Tafa Balewa Square TBS branch of the Lagos High Court.

The defendant is accused of murder, theft, and forging, together with her sister, Chioma Egbuchu, and one Adedapo Quadri.

On the previous postponed date, the prosecution counsel, Mrs. A. O. Oluwafemi, also Deputy Director of the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions, informed the court that their witness was not present.

She asked the court to void the previous dates set for the case’s hearing in order for the prosecution to obtain the toxicology and DNA findings required for the trial.

She stated that the results were not yet ready, but that the next witness will be questioned using those materials.

However, Justice Yetunde Adesanya voided all of the previously set dates and postponed the next session to April 25 to allow for the continuation of the trial.

Inspector Ibrahim Isaka, an Investigative Police Officer, testified before the court on February 17.

Isiaka, the sixth prosecution witness, described how Usifo Ataga, the Chief Executive Officer of Super TV, was reportedly discovered in a pool of blood by police.

According to the witness, the police then phoned the Yaba General Hospital’s emergency unit and had Ataga’s body evacuated.

He informed the court that a murder case was reported at his workplace, Maroko Police Station, on June 16, 2021.

Mrs. Nkechi Mogbo, he said, came to the station at 11:30 p.m. and reported that a corpse had been discovered at her short-service facility, where people were staying.

He testified that Mogbo told the police that a security officer at the facility told her that the body of a guy who had been detained there had been discovered lying in a pool of his blood.

According to the witness, Mogbo also informed the police that a cleaner from the facility went to clean the flat, but the individuals who were staying there did not respond.

According to him, the security guard and cleaner forced through the door and discovered Ataga in a pool of blood.

According to the witness, officers from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) arrived at the crime site.

According to him, the DPO immediately contacted the Yaba General Hospital’s Emergency Unit, which arrived and transported the body.

The next morning, June 17, the commissioner of police suggested that the case be transferred to the Panti Homicide Section, according to the witness.

He said that a Panti police squad invited him to accompany them to the crime scene, which he did.

According to Isiaka, the police discovered some clothing and a travel bag in the flat and took them for further investigation.

He claimed to have written a statement and handed the case file to Panti police.

Mr. Babatunde Busari, the second defendant’s attorney, objected to the prosecutor’s attempt to offer the witness statement.

After hearing all of the reasons, the court overturned the objection and allowed the witness to testify.

On October 12, the three defendants were arraigned on a nine-count accusation brought against them by the Lagos State Government.

Ojukwu and Quadri are accused of conspiracy, murder, stabbing, forgery, falsifying bank records, and theft, among other charges.
