Biography
Charles Chibueze Chukwu was born on 21 November 2000, known by his stage name crayon was born in Ebonyi state his state of origin but grew up in Iba area of Lagos State Nigeria, where he lived with his parents.
Early Life
Crayon was born into a family of two children, him and a younger brother, then his parents whose names are unknown.
Crayon is an indigen of Ebonyi state the eastern part of Nigeria but was born in orile Iganmu, Lagos state, in an apartment complex of face-me-l-face-you.
when he was seven years old his parents relocated to Iba in Ojo area of Lagos State and there he spent his youthful days.
Career
Crayon has always been a music lover since childhood, His dad owned a CD rental store where he spent most of his time playing music from his favorite artists like Usher, Zule Zoo, 50 Cent, Wizkid, Fela, Drake, Justin Bieber, Bryson Tiller, and Davido. His mother is a businesswoman.
Crayon is said to be a boy who sang while doing chores or bathing. His parents motivated him to join his elementary school teenage choir because they knew he had a gift for music.
In 2016 he gave up promoting his higher education after failing JAMB UTME, which he tried almost four times. He follows his music career despite the pressure and frustration of not attending a university like his peers. He went through emotional stress for about a year in 2015 until his friend Nos invited him to step up his music career.
Crayon started his musical adventure in 2008, while working on mastering his art, he met with record producer Ozedikus who produced Rema’s “Corny” and other songs by the start artist.
The end of 2016 marked a turning point in Crayon’s career. In July, he changed his name to Crayon. He met a friend K.O.B., who supported him. K.O.B, who had a relationship with Mavin through a friend, Seun. Seun was fascinated by Crayon’s songs, which he played most of the time loudly, so Baby Fresh spotted Crayon’s talent.
On May 25, 2019, Crayon was picked up by Baby Fresh, a producer under Mavin Records who saw the future of the singer, and immediately signed him under his record label “BlowTime Entertainment,” an imprint of Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records.
He was featured on Mavin’s all-star “All Is In Order” single which also featured DNA, Rema, Don Jazzy, and Korede Bello.
He was featured also featured by Ladipoe on “Based On Kpa” which made waves and received a lot of airplay.
On July 12, 2019, Crayon dropped his official project under Blowtime Entertainment/Mavin Records “Cray Cray,” a six-track EP project.
A single “So Fine” from the project video was shot and directed by Clarance Peter.
