A few days after actress Chi Bernards died unexpectedly while scrubbing a Catholic church in Enugu State, another actor, Sir David Osagie, died under identical circumstances.

Osagie, 52, died in his hotel room following a movie shoot in the South East area on Tuesday. He was famed for portraying the character of a monarch in films.

Ngozi Ezeh, who verified the tragic news, said that the actor was not unwell, but rather slept and did not wake up the next day.

“I hate to tell this but we have lost another Nollywood monarch, Sir David,” the actress posted on her Instagram page, announcing his death. He wasn’t ill; it simply happened to him. How can we explain another Nollywood loss? Have compassion, Lord. Oh, I’m crying again.”

Another actress, Ibiwari, confirmed the tragic news, saying the late actor shot yesterday (Tuesday) and then went back to bed, intending to start shooting today (Wednesday), but never awoke.

“It’s impossible to explain.” Oh, he shot yesterday and then went to sleep, intending to start shooting today, but he never awoke. Another king role interpreter has left the building. Oh God, what is this,” Ibiwari posted on Instagram.

“Young David Osagie was a tremendously gifted actor,” actress Isaac Chinwe said, adding, “your death is a big loss to the cinema business.”

According to actor Mike Ezuruonye, the late actor portrayed his father in a film that he just completed.

He was also a professional talent development, scriptwriter, and producer. He was well recognized for portraying a King or an older relative in most films. He also understood how to interpret his parts properly and could fit into any role that movie directors and producers assigned to him.

However, Osagie died just days after the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Mr. Emeka Rollas, used the Guild’s Instagram page to announce the formation of a three-man prayer committee, led by Apostle Eucharia Anunobi, whose mission is to design a prayer link that members of the Guild can join from all over the country.
