Elon Musk claims that he made the purchase of the English football team Manchester United in jest.

The CEO of Tesla Inc. and the richest man in the world tweeted that he was buying the club while making fun of his political allegiances.

Musk tweeted, “I’m purchasing Manchester United ur welcome.”

Hours later, he corrected the Tweet, saying that it was in fact part of a recurring joke on Twitter.

“No, this is a continuing Twitter joke. I don’t invest in any sports franchises. When questioned if he was serious about buying the team, Musk said.

He continued by saying that if he were to own a sports franchise, United would be it. “But if it were any team, it would be Manchester United. As a child, they were my favorite team, he added.

The Premier League team just suffered a humiliating 4-0 loss to Brentford on Saturday, August 13.

Recall that Gistlover previously claimed that Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, had announced he was buying Manchester United of the English Premier League.

The Tesla CEO made the shocking disclosure on his Twitter page early on Wednesday morning. He added: “Also, I’m purchasing Manchester United ur welcome,” which has since drawn responses from fans.

Musk’s tweet comes after Manchester United’s disastrous Premier League performance against Brentford on Saturday.

Manchester UNITED’s disastrous start to the Premier League season continued as they let up four goals in the first 35 minutes in a 4-0 thrashing.

Elon Musk’s post was warmly received by English team supporters who have been protesting against the Glazer family, the club’s present owners, and who no longer feel comfortable with their leadership.
