Final year student of UNIBEN shot dead in hostel

University of Benin (UNIBEN) final-year student identified as Desmond has been murdered by gunmen alleged to be cultists.

At about 9 pm on Monday, April 3, 2023, the late student popularly known as  ‘Mayor’ was shot dead in his room at the Hall 3 Hostel.

According to reports, the deceased was in the Department of Public Administration and a Kegite chief.

A student who declined to be identified, the victim was shot in the face at point-blank range.

In his words, the student said;

“The killing of Desmond has caused panic in the school. Students are even afraid to stay in the hostel. He was shot in the face and had no chance to survive the attack.” 

Information has it that his corpse has been deposited in the morgue at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH).
