In Ogun, police apprehend five of the most wanted cultists.

Men from the Ogun State Police Command captured five dangerous cultists who had been on the command’s wanted list at their hideaway along Molipa road in Ijebu Ode, where they were plotting another deadly attack.

According to a statement by the command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspects were Segun Olabiyi aka Koleje, Musa Atanda aka Musa Sars, Olorunjuedalo Adewale, Olamide Odewole, and Peter Anuoluwapo Akinyemi. They were apprehended after policemen attached to the Obalende divisional headquarters in Ijebu Ode received information.

“When the DPO Obalende division SP, Salami Murphy, received the information, he organized his personnel and went to the spot.”

“When the hoodlums saw the cops, they engaged them in a gunfight, but they were finally overwhelmed by the cops’ superior firepower, which resulted in the arrest of five of them, while others fled with bullet wounds.”

One locally built short pistol, two live cartridges, and several illicit charms were seized at the location of the confrontation.

“Preliminary inquiry found that the accused were actively involved in different cult battles that claimed many lives, including the life of a serving police officer, Sgt Akeem Oseni of the Igbeba division.”

“Their signature move, according to their confession, is to sever the right hand of their victims after they’ve been killed.”

“They also admitted to being involved in robberies in Ijebu Ode and its surrounds, and that one of their important commanders, simply known as PERTH, was slain in one of the robberies.”

Meanwhile, Lanre Bankole, the State Commissioner of Police, who praised his men’s bravery and professionalism, has ordered that the suspects be sent to the state criminal investigation and intelligence agency for a thorough inquiry.

He also ordered his police to take the fight against all known criminals in the state, in order to make Ogun a peaceful environment for everyone.
