Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa-Donus was born on May 21, 1997 into the family of Mr. and Mrs. Akinfenwa-Donus. He was born and raised in the city of Lagos alongside his siblings.

Joeboy was an undergraduate student at the University of Lagos when he was in the epicenter of the always pulsating entertainment scene at the college. In addition to receiving funding from the music label, Joeboy was given the chance to work with Mr. Eazi on a collaborative project, which resulted in the creation of his breakthrough hit, “Fááji.” On October 26, 2018, the song was made available for purchase and download. He was able to film the music video for “Fááji” because to the grant money he received.
It was because of the success of Fááji in the market that Joeboy was able to get exposure to a bigger audience and pave the way for a record contract with Banku Records. Baby was Joeboy’s debut song after he got signed with a record label and it was released on March 1st, 2019. The single was an enormous success, even exceeding the accomplishments of Fááji along the way. During the same year, the song had more than 20 million streams combined on Spotify and YouTube.
