An Appeal Court sitting in Abuja has ordered members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to call off their eight-months-old strike and return to the classrooms immediately.
The order was issued by the appellate court in response to the striking lecturers’ request for permission to appeal the National Industrial Court’s order ordering them to return to work.
Justice Hamman Barka, who led the 3-man panel said that calling off the strike is the only condition that the union’s plea to appeal the National Industrial Court judgement ordering the union to call off its strike will be granted.
