In Ebungaya village in Kenya, a 50-year-old man reportedly committed suicide after a domestic wrangle on Monday, September 5.
On Monday when he was reported missing, the dead body of Ezra Skim was found hanging from a tree with a rope on his neck in the wee hours of Tuesday.
According to a resident identified as Chris Namasaka, he said. “A rope had been tied around his neck, we suspect he hanged himself,”
Khayega OCS Elizabeth Kagehi authenticated the incident and encouraged members of the public to accept alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
The sister of the deceased, Jetina Tegeno told newsmen that her brother had been complaining of domestic abuse before his demise. She affirmed that Skim’s wife mistreats her brother and often deprived him of his conjugal rights.
In her words, Tegeno said,
“In his last days, he (Skim) appeared stressed. He has been accusing his wife of mistreating him”.
Narrating the events of the night, Skim’s wife Maximila Anyika said they were asleep when the deceased deserted the house. He never came back.
Anyika narrated
“He suddenly came out of bed as we were sleeping, with no explanation he headed outside and bang the door behind him. We were shocked to find his body dangling from a tree,”.
Awaiting an autopsy, the deceased body was taken to Mukumu Mortuary.
