After only two years as a member of the Mavin Family, he released the smash song “Jaiye” in 2019. The following year, Know You starring Simi won the Best Collaboration Category at The Headies.
Providence, his first extended play, was met with widespread acclaim at its 2021 release. Feeling, his track starring BNXN, had topped the charts and become a dance floor staple for months prior. As a result of this song, Ladipoe is now widely recognized as Nigeria’s undisputed king of Afro Rap.
On April 29, 1992, Ladipoe Eso was born to her famous parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eso. The Eso family settled in Lagos City, although their roots were in the Yoruba city of Ilesa in Osun State.
The rap artist Ladipo Eso was reared in a Christian home with his parents Christian name. He grew up in Nigeria’s commercial metropolis, where he attended school through high school before leaving for further studies.
Ladipoe’s passion for music dates back to his high school years, despite the fact that his formal education was in the sciences. The ambition to become a rapper was sparked in Ladipoe when he listened to the music of American rappers like Eminem, 2pac, The Notorious B.I.G., Snoop Dogg, and Jay-Z. And he spent his formative years as a teenager pursuing this interest by writing rap songs and performing them to the delight of his loved ones, peers, and teachers.
Ladipoe wanted to become a professional musician in Nigeria, and he was interested in rap music. Also, he realized that honing his voice and writing songs that his audience connected with was essential to his career’s success.
Due to his privileged background, Ladipoe was able to get an excellent education.
He received his primary, secondary, and tertiary education at prestigious private institutions in Lagos’s most affluent communities.
For college, he enrolled at the UNC-Pembroke campus. He graduated from an American university with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry.
After finishing college, Ladipoe went home to pursue his lifelong ambition of becoming a rapper. After the label’s 2012 rebranding from Mo’Hit Records, he was the first rapper to sign with the new entity.
The scientist-turned-rapper jumped at the chance to demonstrate his skills on Show Dem Camp’s 2017 single, Feel Alright. Many Nigerians were blown away by the artist’s rapping skills, and he continued to be in the spotlight for the following months.
In 2019, Ladipoe dropped his first official mixtape titled Talk About Poe. The mixtape introduced his sound to rap fans in the country and helped him win over more listeners in Nigeria. It was in that same year that he dropped the smash hit single Jaiye, which established him as a major figure in the development of Afro Rap in his native country.
In 2020, when he released the much-anticipated Know You duet with Simi, Ladipoe was at the pinnacle of his career. As millions of fans began using it in their own TikTok videos and other forms of video content, the song quickly gained popularity and spread across the internet. After only a few weeks, the song topped the charts on Nigerian radio. It received extensive play on stations all over the country. Over 80 million streams on digital music platforms can be attributed in part to airplay on radio stations.
To achieve his goal of providing his fans with another smash hit in May 2021, he enlisted the services of BNXN (formerly known as Buju). Through working together, they produced the hit single “Feeling.” Like Know You, this song gained popularity on social media after being used as background music in numerous videos and after hundreds of fans recorded and uploaded their own versions of the song. Feeling has topped the TurnTable 50 three times.
After keeping fans waiting for six months, Ladipoe finally released his debut EP, Providence. Rema, Fireboy DML, and Amaarae all made guest appearances on the 6-song EP. Providence, Love Essential, Running, Law of Attraction, Afro Jigga, and LOTR II are just a few of the top-charting singles featured on the EP.
