One of the best rappers in Nigeria right now is Ladipo Eso (born on April 29, 1992). The musician signed to Mavin Records and going by the stage name Ladipoe has already established himself as a commercial success and a multiple-award winner.

The musical genius shot to fame after penning a smashing track with the band Show Dem Camp and putting it out there for the world to hear.

After only two years as a member of the Mavin Family, he released the smash song “Jaiye” in 2019. The following year, Know You starring Simi won the Best Collaboration Category at The Headies.

Providence, his first extended play, was met with widespread acclaim at its 2021 release. Feeling, his track starring BNXN, had topped the charts and become a dance floor staple for months prior. As a result of this song, Ladipoe is now widely recognized as Nigeria’s undisputed king of Afro Rap.

Early Life

On April 29, 1992, Ladipoe Eso was born to her famous parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eso. The Eso family settled in Lagos City, although their roots were in the Yoruba city of Ilesa in Osun State.

The rap artist Ladipo Eso was reared in a Christian home with his parents Christian name. He grew up in Nigeria’s commercial metropolis, where he attended school through high school before leaving for further studies.

Ladipoe’s passion for music dates back to his high school years, despite the fact that his formal education was in the sciences. The ambition to become a rapper was sparked in Ladipoe when he listened to the music of American rappers like Eminem, 2pac, The Notorious B.I.G., Snoop Dogg, and Jay-Z. And he spent his formative years as a teenager pursuing this interest by writing rap songs and performing them to the delight of his loved ones, peers, and teachers.

Ladipoe wanted to become a professional musician in Nigeria, and he was interested in rap music. Also, he realized that honing his voice and writing songs that his audience connected with was essential to his career’s success.

Education

Due to his privileged background, Ladipoe was able to get an excellent education.
He received his primary, secondary, and tertiary education at prestigious private institutions in Lagos’s most affluent communities.
For college, he enrolled at the UNC-Pembroke campus. He graduated from an American university with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry.

Career

After finishing college, Ladipoe went home to pursue his lifelong ambition of becoming a rapper. In 2017, he reached a major career milestone when he signed a recording contract with Mavin Records and officially joined the Mavin Family. After the label’s 2012 rebranding from Mo’Hit Records, he was the first rapper to sign with the new entity.

The scientist-turned-rapper jumped at the chance to demonstrate his skills on Show Dem Camp’s 2017 single, Feel Alright. Many Nigerians were blown away by the artist’s rapping skills, and he continued to be in the spotlight for the following months.

In 2019, Ladipoe dropped his first official mixtape titled Talk About Poe. The mixtape introduced his sound to rap fans in the country and helped him win over more listeners in Nigeria. It was in that same year that he dropped the smash hit single Jaiye, which established him as a major figure in the development of Afro Rap in his native country.

In 2020, when he released the much-anticipated Know You duet with Simi, Ladipoe was at the pinnacle of his career. As millions of fans began using it in their own TikTok videos and other forms of video content, the song quickly gained popularity and spread across the internet. After only a few weeks, the song topped the charts on Nigerian radio. It received extensive play on stations all over the country. Over 80 million streams on digital music platforms can be attributed in part to airplay on radio stations.

To achieve his goal of providing his fans with another smash hit in May 2021, he enlisted the services of BNXN (formerly known as Buju). Through working together, they produced the hit single “Feeling.” Like Know You, this song gained popularity on social media after being used as background music in numerous videos and after hundreds of fans recorded and uploaded their own versions of the song. Feeling has topped the TurnTable 50 three times.

After keeping fans waiting for six months, Ladipoe finally released his debut EP, Providence. Rema, Fireboy DML, and Amaarae all made guest appearances on the 6-song EP. Providence, Love Essential, Running, Law of Attraction, Afro Jigga, and LOTR II are just a few of the top-charting singles featured on the EP.

Big Brother Naija’s producer, MultiChoice, asked Ladipoe to sing at the premiere of the sixth season. In 2022, he gave live performances in Dallas, Seattle, L.A., and San Francisco as part of Fireboy DML’s Apollo Tour across the United States. In March of 2022, he also made a trip to Los Angeles for a show that was completely sold out.

Awards and Nominations

In 2020, Ladipoe won the Best Collaboration award at The Headies. His song “Know You” was nominated for a Grammy. In 2021, the same song was once again nominated for the Net Honour Music Award, this time for Most Played Hip-Hop Song.

The 2021 BET Awards recognized him as a nominee for Best International Flow.

As of April 29th, rapper Ladipoe is now 30 years old. He has a garage full of rare automobiles and lives in a ritzy section of Lagos.

After getting together with several pals, he formed the band Collectiv3, in which he now participates. Lyrically Equipped was a group he co-founded with his college pals Kurt and Jeffery, and he was a member of the group throughout his time at university.

For the Hennessy vs. Class of 2022 competition, Ladipoe has been traveling the nation as a judge, where she has been conducting in-person and online interviews with talented individuals who have applied to be a part of the program. He utilizes his position as a judge to provide advice and guidance to up-and-coming rappers.

Fans were caught aback when Ladipoe surprised them by posting a video in August 2021 revealing that he had become a father.

Along with Crayon, Boy Spyce, Johnny Drille, Rema, Ayra Starr, Korede Bello, and Magixx, he is signed to Mavin Records.

Ladipoe was seen in the video cuddling a newborn boy. However, he has opted to keep his connection with his partner private and has not disclosed the name of the mother of his child/wife.

Ladipoe, who is widely recognized as the leader of the revival movement, has established several streams of income from his artistic endeavors.

The rapper is estimated to be having a net worth of US$700,000-US$1 million.
