In Minnesota, a couple was found lifeless in their apartment with their two dogs earlier this week after they devised a murder-suicide plan so they could leave the world “in love and together.”
According to authorities, the lifeless bodies of 45 years old Steven Alton Stearns, and 49 years old Stacy Lynn Stearns, and their two dogs were found inside the Detroit Lakes home on Tuesday, September 27, after the couple had alerted 911.
In line with what Becker County Sheriff’s Office said, Stacy’s death has since been tagged a homicide and Steven’s a suicide,
In Forum reported that the decesed couple, who had marked their 21st wedding anniversary just a week before their demise, were cancer patients and had both been fighting to cope with their cancer battles.
Steven, who was recently diagnosed with lung cancer that was too developed to treat, while his wife had already been suffering from stomach cancer.
Before the plan of their death was being alerted, they posted a heartbreaking final message on their joint Facebook page.
In the post, it reads;
“To our loved ones. We chose to leave this world as we lived in it. In love and together. Our only regret is the sorrow to our loved ones. Remember the laughter and happiness We love you. Goodbye.”
Tammy Lawrence, a friend to the deceased couple told the outlet that Steven had currently told her they were secretly planning to end their lives.
In her words, Tammy said;
“They’ve always had a pact that ‘We will go together, “He made me promise not to say anything to anybody.”
“Stacy did not want him to tell me, but he said, ‘I can’t look in your eyes and lie to you anymore, and somebody has to be able to tell people why we are going to do what we were going to do.'”
Another friend to the couple asserted that the couple were childless and treated their two dogs as their kids.
