A Brazillian mother has been apprehended on suspicion of killing after her young kids’ decaying bodies were discovered on her bed.
31-year-old Eliara Paz Nardes, is reported to have murdered her 9-year-old daughter Alice Nardes de Oliveira and three-year-old son Joaquim Nardes Jardins two weeks before their remains were uncovered.
The Police discovered the children’s remains on Saturday, 27th August after Mrs. Nardes allegedly communicated with a lawyer to admit to the murder. The lawyer briefed the authorities, who attacked Mrs. Nardes’ apartment in Guarapuava, Parana, and uncovered two bodies that had been dead for 2 weeks after an autopsy was carried on.
The bodies were found lying on Mrs. Nardes’ bed with a blanket placed over them in other to hide the unpleasant odor. Said the police.
According to cops, the defendant had told them that she was unfit to continue fending for her children who had separate fathers – either psychologically or financially, and had schemed to take her life afterward but is not yet through with it.
Speaking to the police spokesman, Ana Hass said:
“When we entered the apartment, in her room, we found the children lying down. They looked like they were sleeping in bed, but they were already dead and in an advanced state of decomposition.
“She said the boy was killed by suffocation with a pillow and, later, the girl was strangled with a scarf, but we are waiting for a report to confirm this. The suspect would have committed the crimes against her own children 14, 15 days ago.
“She asserted that she was very exhausted and lonely, and could no longer afford to raise her children, not just financially but also emotionally. As a result, she said she intended to kill herself, but as the children had no one to count on, according to her, she ended up killing them first.”
The cops also relayed that Mrs. Nardes asserted to have murdered the kids the same day they were unearthed, but proof suggested that the boy passed away on the 13th day of August with his sister being murdered 4 days after.
Officers stated that Mrs. Nardes was formerly a working-class citizen who lived a normal life.
However, as it stands now, she now faces a number of charges which include murder, hiding the bodies, and procedural fraud.
