Nigerians react as Vice President Yemi Osinbajo declares his intention to run for President in 2023.

“Today, with the greatest humility, I publicly proclaim my decision to run for President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the APC platform,” I write.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s term ends in May of next year, and Osinbajo hopes to follow him.

“If by di grace of God and di will of di pipo, dem give me di opportunity, then I believe say first, we must finish what we don start, to radically transform our security and intelligence architecture, complete di reforms of our justice system; focus on adequate remuneration and welfare of judicial personnel, and make sure say justice dey for all and we observe di rule of law,” Osinbajo says in a video posted to his social media handles.

E further state that I want to accelerate infrastructure development in di kontri, particularly in the areas of power, roads, railways, and broadband connectivity, in order to create a favorable environment for businesses to thrive.

“To take the agricultural revolution to the next level, particularly in terms of mechanization and the development of the farm-to-table value chain; to ensure that the government, its agencies, and regulators serve the business community, and to develop a tech economy that will provide jobs for millions of young Nigerians.”

“For the last seven years, I’ve served as vice president under real Nigerian patriots as a servant of the country in both war and peace.

“I work through some of the most trying moments in our country’s history.”

I say that as Vice President, I would continue to work on securing the country, providing infrastructure, and growing the economy with President Muhammadu Buhari.

“I don’t serve the government in a variety of capacities, and I don’t represent the Kontri in a variety of capacities.

“I don dey for all Nigerian local governments, and I don dey for the homes of many ordinary Nigerians.”
