In Oyo town, men of the Oyo Security Network nicknamed Amotekun Corps have apprehended two suspects reportedly found in possession of human skulls.
The two suspects who were identified to be Ganiyu Maruf, a native of Laguna family in Oyo town, and Alfa Basiru Bashit of Abu Compound, Oyo; were almost killed by the inhabitants of Ori-awo Yidi.
During interrogation, Maruf, a bricklayer said one Dauda ‘Baba Ato’, a carpenter had provided them with the skulls.
According to Maruf, the man had initially rejected him because he had earlier been apprehended by SARS but later asked him to pay the sum of N50,000 for the skulls.
Maruf said Dauda was arrested again by operatives of SARS shortly after he supplied them with the skulls but was later released weeks later after confessing his crimes.
He fled to the village but returned about two months later when he heard Baba Ato had been released. Maruf confessed.
Baba Ato allegedly kicked the bucket the night of his release.
Five days ago, the accused divulged how they concealed the skulls within the vicinity while he continued looking after them so they were not stolen.
Unluckily for him, residents of the Ori-Awo area where he lives had been watching him galavanting the area where he buried the skulls.
On their way to Yida, the alerted residents allegedly attacked Maruf and his accomplice.
In other to get the skulls from Baba Ato, an acquaintance of Maruf, Bashit disclosed contributing N15,000 to the money.
When interrogated about who was going to perform the money rituals for them, Maruf responded that he would attempt doing the money rituals for himself first because he had knowledge of them from his maternal grandfather and was going to do it for them.
