Plateau LG chairman abducted by gunmen

Chairman of Kanke Local Government Council in Plateau State, Hon. Henry Gotip has been abducted by gunmen alleged to be kidnappers.

The report had it that gunmen besieged the apartment of the council boss in Jos South local government council of the state in the early hours of Wednesday, September 7, shooting intermittently to scare off occupants before whisking the victim to an unidentified destination.

Alfred Alabo, the spokesman of the police in the state, who confirmed the incident said the command has consigned a tactical team to save the victim.

According to him, he explained that the alarm came in the early hours of Wednesday that the security intervened when there was a robbery gang operating along the area but it was later discovered that a Council Chairman was abducted.

He stated

“The Police Commissioner is on top of the situation as he has sent a team of police officers to the area who are working in collaboration with the vigilante to rescue the Council Chairman,”. 

He encouraged the public to go about their legal businesses and report any strange movement around their communities for an immediate reply from the security agencies.

Gotip is also the Secretary of ALGON, Plateau State.
