Yul Edochie, a Nollywood actor, has drawn criticism for his response to the popular Shettima challenge.

According to Six9ja, Kashim Shettima, the vice presidential candidate for the APC, sparked the issue with his attire when attending the Nigerian Bar Association convention in Lagos on August 22.

While some Nigerians mocked the movement, others regarded it as an affront to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the public figure who was supposed to represent him.

However, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Peter Obi of the Labour Party also attended the ceremony, which was held on Monday.

Shettima, who stood in for Bola Tinubu, the APC’s standard bearer, wore a black suit with a crimson tie and a pair of gym shoes, which sparked comments on social media.

Numerous Nigerians, including famous people, participated in the challenge.

Yul Edochie called them out for their constant adoration of little things.

He questioned why young people couldn’t create the #PeterObi challenge to encourage them to become as smart, astute, and as vocal as Peter Obi.

“Now I’m seeing Shettima challenge everywhere. People wearing auto & sneakers. Nigerian youths. Trivialities all the time. Why can’t you do Peter Obi challenge? Challenge yourselves to be educated like Peter, to speak and be intelligent like Peter. Una no go see that one do”.

He had received criticism on Twitter for offering his uninvited viewpoint.

He questioned why the actor couldn’t encourage them to participate in the #Fidelity challenge, which would encourage men to keep to one wife, in a dig at his polygamous lifestyle.

He claims that the actor consistently makes light of his wrongdoing.

“Why you no tell us to do “Fidelity” challenge. Like, staying with one wife like Peter Obi. Nah the one way you no dey guilty of you wan promote. Abeg rest”.

As he listed the benefits the controversy had given him, the actor stunned many people.

Unapologetic in his conduct, Yul had enumerated the many benefits his second marriage had provided to his family.

Yul Edochie observed that after the controversy, his first wife, May Yul Edochie, received her first endorsement, something that had never occurred before.

He acknowledged that he had wronged his wife in a number of ways, but he had honestly apologized to her.

He continued to count his blessings by saying that the incident had increased his fame and highlighted Judy.
