5 men set ablaze in Onitsha for reportedly attempting to steal a tricycle (Photos)

In the commercial city of Onitsha, Anambra State, 5 men were set ablaze after they reportedly tried to snatch a tricycle driver of his tricycle.

The ugly incident occurred on Saturday, March 25th, 2023 at old Nkpor road, close to the headquarters of the People’s Club, in Onitsha.

The suspects reportedly attempted to steal a tricycle from the owner in a broad daylight when luck ran out of them and was apprehended by the angry mobs, an eyewitness said.

In the words of the eyewitness, he said;

“Mob who gathered after the men were rounded up, refused the advice of some people to call in the police. They first started by striping the men naked and beating them up, and eventually, some people brought old tyres and fuel, and they were set ablaze. It was a very bad sight today, and everyone watched and supervised, while the men burnt to death.”

Graphic videos from the scene went viral on social media.

A suspect could be heard shouting ‘Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,” in one of the videos while crying for help.
