The Nigeria U20 Women’s national team, Falconets, is trapped in Istanbul, Turkey, after exiting the current FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.
According to reports, the two-time FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup finalists departed Costa Rica at 6:30 a.m. on Monday and were seen sleeping on the bare floor and chairs at Istanbul Airport after staying at a location for 24 hours.

According to a team member, “the situation has worsened since they do not have a transit visa to obtain accommodation.”
During the competition, reports revealed that the squad was given extremely inadequate equipment, including just three sets of their green home uniform and two sets of their white away outfit. This meant that the players had to hand-wash their jerseys after each game and were unable to swap them.
Worse, despite the fact that the NFF has an official kit supplier, the young females were not provided with proper footwear and were instead required to purchase their own.
As a result, the players, who are only paid $50 each match and get no incentives, borrowed money to purchase Nike shoes and playing boots.
Falconets won all three group C matches to gain a maximum of 9 points, but their outstanding run came to an end in the quarter-finals when the Netherlands defeated them 2-0.
This is not the first time the squad has faced a humiliating situation.
