Breaking: ASUU extends its strike once again

The continuing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has once again been prolonged.

The choice was made during the National Executive Council meeting on Monday, August 29, at the union’s headquarters at the University of Abuja.

The ASUU strike was scheduled to start on February 14, 2022, and run for 4 weeks. To give the administration more time to respond to all of its requests, ASUU agreed to prolong its continuing strike by an additional two months on March 14, approximately one month after it began.

Today marks day 196 of the strike.

The Federal Government’s unwillingness to carry through earlier agreements both partners signed has led to the union going on strike.

University Transparency Accountability Solution, earned academic allowances, promotional backlogs, and other issues are among the grievances raised by the professors.
