Michael Collins Ajereh, well known by his stage name Don Jazzy, is a well-known musician in Nigeria.

Don Jazzy is a music producer, audio engineer, performer, and composer who is also the CEO of Mavin Records and the former creator of Mo’ Hits Records.

After releasing the albums No Long Thing and Rundown/Funk You Up, he rose to stardom. In an extremely accomplished career, he has also collaborated with musicians like D’Banj, Sauce Kid (Sinzu), Dr. SID, Ikechukwu, Kween, D’Prince, Jay-Z, and Kanye West.

The Nigerian music producer received conflicting feedback on social media on April 3rd 2021 after posting a photo of his ex-wife, who he wed in 2001 when they were both living in London.

Early Life

On November 26, 1982, Michael Collins Ajereh, also known as Don Jazzy, was born into the Collins Enebeli Ajereh family in Unmuahia, Abia State. His mother was an Igbo princess from Abia State, while his father was a native of the Isoko tribe in Delta State.

After his parents relocated to the west in the late 1980s, Don Jazzy was reared in Ajegunle, Lagos State, alongside his brother Charles Enebeli (also known as D’Prince). He developed a love for music at the time and quickly mastered the bass guitar and piano. He was renowned for his proficiency with percussion and traditional instruments.

Education

Don Jazzy attended Ajegunle in Lagos State for his basic school, where he also completed it, before enrolling at Federal Government College in Lagos. He took use of his free time by joining the school’s music club when he was in school.

Don Jazzy was accepted to study business management at Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma, Edo state, after earning his Secondary School Certificates at the Junior and Senior Levels.

Career

In 2004, Don Jazzy and music artist D’Banj founded Mo’ Hits Records. They developed a music brand that lasted for over ten years together.

He created the albums No Long Thing and Rundown/Funk You Up for the record company. He gained notoriety for his catchphrase, It’s Don Jazzy Again!, which he used to introduce songs in which he appeared. Don Jazzy collaborated on important albums including Wande Coal’s Mushin 2 MoHits alongside D’Prince, Dr. SID, and Wande Coal.

He gained international fame after working as a producer at Very Good Beatz for Kanye West in 2011. He also went on to contribute background vocals for D’Banj, Sauce Kid, Dr. SID, Ikechukwu, Kween, D’Prince, and Jay-Z. He has extensive knowledge in audio engineering and music production. He collaborated with Jay-Z throughout that time as well. Due to aesthetic disagreements, Don Jazzy and D’Banj made the decision to separate ways in March 2012.

Mavin Records

Don Jazzy established Mavin Records on May 7th, 2012, and put out an album with just musicians he has signed. Amarachi, Oma Ga, Take Banana and Chocolate, YOLO, and the MAVIN anthem are among the songs included on the CD. The brilliant musician Tiwa Savage was also signed by the label.

Wande Coal and Mavin Records severed ways on November 7, 2013, following a disagreement with group member Ajereh two days earlier. A few years later, Reekado Banks also quit the musical group. Ayra Starr is a young, gifted female musician who was just signed by Mavin Records.

Personal Life

On April 3, 2021, the Nigerian music producer Don Jazzy stirred conflicting responses on social media by posting a photo of Michelle Jackson, his ex-wife, whom he wed in 2001 when they were both living in London.

He also stated that he will be having a new girlfriend in December 2020 and that he had a major crush on Rihanna, an American singer.

Don Jazzy is also a wealthy individual. He posted a picture of his recently purchased property in Lekki, Lagos State, valued at $300 million earlier this year on Instagram. He also owns a number of high-end vehicles, including
