On their way to a wedding in Limpopo, South Africa, nine members of one family were killed in a head-on accident, including 4 kids.
After receiving reports of the occurrence, the Department of Transportation and Community Safety issued a statement on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, confirming the incident.
According to the article, the deadly collision on the N1 connecting Mokgoopong and Mokopane happened on Saturday morning, November 12.
A tyre broke on a 10-seater Toyota Venture, causing the motorist to lose control, and causing a head-on collision with a truck headed in the direction of Gauteng.
Reported victims include four young children, four individuals who identify as female, and a male driver. They apparently traveled from their home in Diepsloot, Gauteng, to be a part of the celebrations.
The Limpopo MEC for transport and community safety, Florence Radzilani, has extended her sympathies to the victim’s loved ones.
The police in Mookgophong have launched a case of murder by negligent or criminally negligent means.
The Department also stated that they had set up a mechanism to intervene on behalf of the family and help them make burial preparations.
