Throughout the last two years, the Bauchi Police Command has detained 1,464 people and documented 850 cases in the state.
SP Mohammed Wakil, the Command’s spokesman, announced this on Thursday in Bauchi at the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Peace and National Integration summit.
According to him, the suspects were detained and charged with robbery, abduction, rape, and homicide, among other crimes.
Wakil explained that the command documented 112 robbery crimes and prosecuted 287 suspects, while 74 kidnapping cases and 174 suspects were registered and convicted.
During the time period under consideration, 231 people were detained and prosecuted in connection with 186 rape incidents, according to Wakil.
“The command reported 110 culpable homicide cases, resulting in the prosecution of 206 individuals, as well as 30 theft and burglary cases.”
“During the time under review, properties worth N101 million were recovered and turned over to the owners,” he added.
According to Wakil, the command also found 88 weaponry, including 25 AK 47 rifles, three pistols, one Dane gun, 6,466 rounds of ammo, 29 locally produced cartridges, and 27 locally made revolvers.

The recovery was part of an attempt to rid the state of light weapons, according to the spokesperson, who added that it was accomplished via effective community policing and crime prevention tactics.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to fighting crime and protecting lives and property throughout the state.
According to the Nigerian News Agency (NAN), the one-day peace conference was attended by public relations professionals, media executives, government officials, security agency representatives, and civil society organizations.
Its goal is to raise public knowledge about the value of peace in order to promote peace, security, and national unity.
