Man murders wife before slitting his throat in front of their kids after a brawl over discipline

In Florida, a man slashed his own throat in front of his kids after stabbing his wife to death during a brawl over discipline.

According to the police, a 26-year-old Byanca Cruz was found lifeless at a property in Volusia County, Florida on Monday evening, October 17, after a perturbed 10-year-old boy ran to his next-door neighbors to solicit for help subsequent to the apparent murder-suicide.

The 31-year-old Oscar Salaza, the boy’s stepdad, was then found with wounds on his neck, and later passed away in the hospital.

At the time, there were three kids on the property; the two youngest were assumed to be his.

Reporters assert he stabbed Byanca countless times after a brawl over how she had disciplined their 5-year-old. Police have released a photo of a bloody black knife which seems to be the murder weapon.

In an interview with a press conference, Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said,

“This is really, really a heartbreaking story.” 

“It is sickening on one end, again when you look you have three little kids involved here, a 10-year-old, a 5-year-old, and a 2-year-old, who don’t have their mother anymore.”

He further tweeted that the children will now need “a lot of love and support” as they come to terms with their loss and seek support from the community, and he verified that his office would be making the necessary arrangements with family members to make sure they “have everything they need”.
