The police force has announced the exhumation of the body of 27-year-old Afrobeats star, Ilerioluwa Aloba also known as MohBad, who died a controversial and unclear death, for autopsy.

Senator Ishaku Elisha Abbo, the Senate Committee Chairman on Creative Arts and Entertainment, has guaranteed MohBad’s mother that the federal government would confirm that justice was done over her son’s untimely death. Abbo visited the family of the late singer, in Lekki, Lagos.

At the exact time, the Youth Party has called on the Federal Ministry of Culture and National Orientation, the States Ministry of Youth and Culture as well as the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) to handle the predominant culture of violence and intimidation in the music industry.

The SaharaReporters had detailed the detention of a nurse who treated Mohbad and allegedly dispensed an injection before his demise.

The late musician was assaulted by folks who had previously threatened him immediately after his performance at Ikorodu. These attacks left Mohbad with injuries that prompted him to seek medical assistance at home.

Coincidentally, after receiving injections, which included an anti-tetanus shot, Mohbad began experiencing convulsions and unfortunately passed away at his residence. James Aloba, his father, expressed suspicions concerning the nurse’s role and made suggestions that the injection may have contributed to his son’s deteriorating health.

Late singer MohBad died on September 12 and was buried the following day, allegedly without a doctor’s certification, a move that incensed many of his fans and Nigerians alike.

The police had earlier announced their intention to disinter the late singer’s remains to conduct a thorough postmortem, seeking to shed light on the occurrences surrounding Mohbad’s untimely passing.

Nevertheless, Benjamin Hundeyin, the police spokesperson of Lagos, gave an update via his X handle, saying and I quote, “Exhumation completed. Autopsy to commences.”

In response to public concerns, the police on Monday set up a 19-member committee to carry out an inconspicuous investigation, which included the exhumation, autopsy, scene visit, medical report, records of suspects, and witnesses’ statements. The committee was given two weeks to wrap up its inquiries.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Lagos governor, had invited the Department of State Security (DSS) to join the police in unraveling the cause of the untimely death of the talented artist. Sanwo-Olu, also said the move was to “boost the investigations” into the demise of the artiste via his X handle on Tuesday

These, nonetheless, hundreds of his fans had taken to the streets to seek the prosecution of those who had hands in his untimely passage which was also followed with the hashtags #justiceformohbad, now trending on X, previously known as Twitter…

The public accused Naira Marley, and his associate Sam Larry, as there have been allegations of assault involving Naira Marley and his crew.

Also, in posts dated as of October 6, 2022, Mohbad recounted a confrontation with Naira Marley and his manager, Tunde, which escalated into violence and led to injuries sustained by Mohbad and his companions.

However, Naira Marley in a post on his Instagram handle has called for a thorough investigation into his ex-signee’s death and pledged to assist with “uncovering any foul play or injustice”.

SamiLarry, too, a music promoter, came under heavy fire on the internet after a video of him and his men disrupting Mohbad’s video shoot with Zlatan Ibile surfaced on social media.

It was alleged that the music promoter and his associates subjected Mohbad to continuous bullying and menacing, resulting in multiple physical injuries after he renounced their record label.

A Tiktok live video which has been circulating and trending online has stirred the public as they continuously and fiercely declare justice for the late singer, the video itself was recorded from a live video showing the digging and exhumation of the late singer’s corpse and allegedly, blood was seen inside the coffin.

The videographer said and I quote, ” He is not even smelling like he is supposed to, I think he was buried alive and died as a result of suffocation, He also proceeded to say, ” His blood is still fresh”

Meanwhile, the representative of the Adamawa North Senatorial District Abbo, was accompanied by artists Tonto Dikeh and Iyabo Ojo to MohBad’s residence at Royal Pine Estate, Lekki, Lagos. where  Mohbad’s mother has voiced her belief that her son may have been intentionally killed.

The senator gave an undisclosed sum to the mother, and advised her not to feel intimidated, stating the government was ready to protect her and the entire family members.

Also, Tonto Dikeh made known that her Foundation would provide a scholarship to MohBad’s son, and the family was privileged to N100,000 every month.

Senator Abbo said and I quote, “I’m here to commiserate the family. I’m chairman Senate Committee on Creative Economy and Vice chairman of Youths because I’m also a youth.

He also proceeded to say, “Nobody will hurt you. I am here to console the family. When we heard of your son’s death and the disagreement or possibilities that appeared on social media, we felt it was necessary to come here and sympathize with your family and see you.

He also continued, “The government will never abandon her citizens. This current administration has created a ministry, that is the ministry of arts, culture, and creative economy and Mohbad was a major player in the creative economy of this country.

So, when his demise came, the Senate, felt the interest Nigerians have in this matter and we began to listen, we can’t heed deaf ears to what Nigerians are crying for.

furthermore, he continued, “It has taken a different extent now. It’s like the movement of black lives matter because celebrities all over the world have started posting justice for Mohbad.

And, I want them to know that the government is interested in the case, nobody is concealing anything, and nobody is past the law. We have fundamental confidence in the Police.

“The IG has ordered a thorough investigation into the matter and it will be analyzed. We are here to let the family know that we are with them.

“The Senate will resume on the 26th of September which is a few days from now and we are heading back to the chamber. And we are guaranteeing you that the Senate which belongs to the Nigerian individuals will look into this without any emotion.

We will look into the matter and we will invite the police to come and brief us on what they have done so far on this matter,” he said.

However, Senator Abbo, precautioned the youth as they go on to protest across the nation, remarking that they should not take laws into their hands.

On their part, the Youth Party in a report by its Acting National Publicity Secretary, Ayodele Adio, said associates of the party received the untimely demise of the rising Afrobeat Star with grave hearts.

The assertion recalled that the music industry in the US lost some of its leading lights, Tupac Shakur and Christopher Wallace (B.I.G.) in 1996/97 also due to violence and brutality in the industry.

The party also implored the police to conduct its investigations transparently, and expeditiously and broadcast it as a result of the public interest in the nature of the matter.

“Most significantly, we reach out to The Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) and other associations of musicians in Nigeria to consider self-regulation and discipline to save their profession, livelihood, and image of the Nigerian Youths.”
